Working hours: 15 hours per week (Tuesday and Wednesday) (you may be required to undertake occasional late working, bank holiday and weekend working)

Job Summary:

  • The main purpose of the role is to work with specialist clinical pharmacists to develop and provide a specialist pharmacy service to in-patient services and associated community teams in accordance with medicines legislation, the Code of Ethics of the General Pharmaceutical Council, United Kingdom Medicines Information (UKMI) standards and trust policies and procedures.
  • This role will be responsible for co-coordinating the running of the dispensary and for ensuring that the operational standards are implemented.
  • This role will be responsible for developing operating procedures for the pharmacy and ensuring implementation.

Essential knowledge, skills and experience:

  • 3-4 years post registration experience including clinical pharmacy
  • Clinical pharmacy diploma
  • Adherence to the professional standards of the GPhC
  • Working knowledge of hospital pharmacy
  • Evidence of sound clinical pharmacy methods
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Masters or equivalent degree in pharmacy
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Able to communicate effectively with individuals from all agencies and at all levels including users, carers and the public
  • Critical appraisal skills
  • Good presentation skills, both written and oral
  • Self-motivated, with well-developed communication skills
  • Team player with leadership skills
  • Ability to access, review and process complex clinical and mental health pharmacy information from appropriate sources
  • Flexible attitude to service provision and an enthusiasm for change
  • Good time management and prioritisation skills
  • Assertive, polite and robust in debate
  • Able to advise on medicines and pharmacy legislation
  • Enhanced computer skills
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working
  • Professional manner
  • Adaptable
  • Car driver with valid UK license or otherwise independently mobile and able to travel to all AWP sites

Essential Candidate Criteria:

  • Registered pharmacist with GPhC
  • Master’s Degree (4 Years) plus 1 year pre-registration training
  • Experience working on wards and in hospital settings
  • Right to work in the UK
