Location: Surrey
Salary: £14.70 - £16.04 per hour Actual salary £26,265.95 - £28,660.26 dependant on qualifications Plus £2000 Welcome bonus For HLTA with SEN Experience*
Contract: 40 hours per week - Term Time only - Monday - Friday - 8.30am - 4.30pm (5pm on Thursday, extra half hour taken off on another day)
The role:
They are currently looking for a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant for their school. You will support the Class teacher with all elements of the day to day running of the class and to teach whole classes, groups and individual lessons in consultation with the Class Teacher on a regular basis across a range of classes. They also will run interventions in groups and 1:1.
Experience:
Successful candidate is likely to demonstrate the following:
Pupil Welfare and Safeguarding
- Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
- Provide meaningful feedback on pupil behaviour, relationships and attitudes.
- Monitor pupils conduct and behaviour throughout the learning process and intervene to resolve highly complex, difficult or very challenging issues and to keep records of incidents, health, behaviour etc. as necessary
- Promote pupils’ cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development and spiritual well-being.
- Work with pupils on therapy or care programmes, designed and supervised by a therapist/care professional during timetabled sessions.
Supporting Teaching and Learning
- To lead in the absence of any Class Teachers across the school.
- Assist the Class Teacher with carrying out the professional duties of a teacher as outlined in the Professional Standards for Teachers.
- Know and understand the Class Teacher’s curriculum planning and to plan, prepare and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to individual, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary within agreed systems of supervision.
- Reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers
- Take an active role in key areas of responsibility across the school including displays and organising resource.
- Develop and implement individual plans for pupils (such as the educational elements in an EHCP), including attendance at, and contribution to, reviews if requested.
Skills & Qualifications:
Successful candidate qualities:
- The Higher-Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification or demonstrate equivalent skill level.
- GCSE pass above C grade 4 in English and Maths
