Job Summary:

To lead the psychology team and to provide a direct psychological service to clients, carrying out assessments of their needs and abilities and using this information to formulate and monitor appropriate programmes and strategies.
To support staff engaged in the cognitive, physical communication, functional, social and emotional rehabilitation of adults with acquired brain injury and a range of other neurological conditions.

THE OPPORTUNITY
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a small psychology team within our neurological rehabilitation centre. We have a mixed client group which includes people on the sub-acute stroke pathway, people following acquired brain injury or spinal cord injury. The length of stay for our clients varies from 4 weeks to 2 years approximately.

The post holder will be supported to maintain an independent caseload of people presenting with a wide variety of neurological conditions. Clinical work will include provision of neuropsychological assessment, formulation and intervention, and will include both direct and indirect working in community and inpatient settings. The post holder will form a crucial part of the neuropsychology team.

This role is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks which will include an Enhanced adult barred list check DBS (at the cost of QEF if you are not already a member of The Update Service).

ABOUT YOU
You would be required to have:
• Doctorate level training in clinical psychology / neuro psychology.
• Up-to-date HCPC registration.
• Experience working with people with cognitive impairments.
• Experienced in the use of neuropsychological assessment to inform care planning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working with people who have an acquired brain injury / in a neuro-rehab setting.
• Experience working with staff teams in a residential setting.
• Experience working with families.
