SEN Science Teacher
Location: Leyland, Nr Preston, Lancashire
Salary: M1 –M6 dependent on experience

This Group is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special educational needs and disabilities.
We’re currently looking for an experienced Teacher (with Science specialism) in Leyland, Nr. Preston where our School provides specialist academic and therapeutic support in a welcoming environment for students aged 9-16 who face challenges associated with social, emotional and mental health needs.
The Role:
To deliver high quality teaching and learning to young people in classes no bigger than 8 students.
Key Responsibilities:
- To plan and deliver lessons following a broad and balanced curriculum according to DfE guidance and the school’s policies including reflective practice.
- To be responsible for the day to day running of the class and assist in other relevant aspects of the day to day running of the school.
- To assess, record and report pupils’ progress according the school’s policy in order to monitor and foster pupils’ progress in all areas of learning.
- To take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
- To lead support and supervision sessions for Assistant Teachers and Higher Level Teaching Assistants including Professional Development Reviews.
- To attend and contribute to teachers’ meetings, multi-disciplinary meetings and any other relevant staff meetings.
- To ensure a high standard of personal care for the pupils, carefully monitoring the health and well-being of pupils informing the care staff, medical staff, behaviour support team and any other relevant professionals of any concerns.
Qualifications:
- PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
- Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN, SLD/PMLD and ASD
- Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
- Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge
