Blackstone Recruitment are working with a provider of education, care and support services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities who are recruiting for Teaching Assistant.

Location: Reading
Salary:
£11.72ph - £12.53ph (actual annual salary = £20,941 - £22,388 per year) Dependant on experience and qualifications
Hours: 40 hours per week 

The role:

They’re currently looking to recruit teaching Assistants (TA’s) to join our expanding team and work alongside the Education Team to aid the smooth running of the school. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new venture in a school that will grow with you. You will be a part of a Brand-New School set up. It is an opportunity for you to help shape the provision and develop the school to be the best that it can be.

Experience:
 
Successful candidate is likely to demonstrate the following:

  • To support teachers in all areas of the day to day running of the class seeking guidance and advice when required
  • Working alongside a class team to deliver purposeful and meaningful educational experiences for children and young people with a diagnosis of Autism spectrum and severe/moderate learning difficulties.
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding.

Duties will vary, you must expect to diversify and lend a hand wherever is required.

Skills & Qualifications: 

Successful candidate qualities:

  • A good standard of standard of English, Maths and communication
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN relevant to Provision
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviour that challenges.
  • Experience working within education is advantageous
  • Experience of working within a multi-cultural, inclusive setting
  • Commitment to the role, the desire to put the child first and treat them as an individual
  • Be positive and creative in meeting students’ needs
  • Work on your own as well as part of a team
  • Work collaboratively with other staff and professionals with good interpersonal skills
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Competent ICT skills
  • Be flexible, adaptable and solution focused.
  • Able to work within the parameters of the physical demands of the job role
