Blackstone Recruitment are working with a provider of education, care and support services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities who are recruiting for Senior Support Worker for one of their schools in Hertfordshire.

Location: Hertfordshire
Salary:
£27,144 - £28,392 per annum dependent on qualifications
Hours: 40 hours per week.

The role:

They are looking to recruit for a Senior Support Worker. Your role will be to provide support to the Team Leaders and Care Managers in managing, motivating and coaching a team of support workers to maintain a stable, happy and caring environment that puts the health, safety and welfare of our young people first.

Experience: 

Successful candidate is likely to demonstrate the following:

  • You’ll provide appropriate physical and emotional support to the young people through the work of the care team within a residential environment and with off-site activities.
  • As the shift leader you’ll be expected to support the induction of new team members and their continued mentoring and development towards QCF and other mandatory training.
  • You’ll also be expected to take an active role in ensuring that activities are completed, and effectively delegated and day-to-day implementation of young people’s individual program plans are carried out efficiently with adequate cover available at all times.
  • This is very much a hands-on role where you will work directly with our young people and will provide appropriate personal care and emotional support to those using our services.

Skills & Qualifications:  

Successful candidate qualities:

  • Level 3 Health & Social Care
  • Experience and knowledge of working with young adults with complex needs and additional behaviours
  • Superb communication skills and patience
  • Highly organised
  • Resilient with a robust and positive nature
  • Ability to work on a rota pattern- please note that this will typically mean working every other weekend
